Are You Building a Business or Creating a Lifestyle?

Posted 06-07-2014 at 12:41 PM by Tess
It feels like Summer here in Portland, Oregon - although we're in for a few good rains before the season officially starts. For me, Summer means shorter work days and longer weekends. I'm still working my business of course - but you'll find me (and my laptop) sitting on my front porch, on the sand at the river, or at an outdoor cafe with a glass of wine.

As a VA you're not tied to anyone's office (OR their office hours). And you're not tied to any one location. Aside from getting paid to lounge poolside, I don't see a better option (and technically, you CAN lounge poolside while you work your VA business, so there!)

In the 8 years since I started my business I've worked from beaches, coffee shops, parks, patios, planes, and pool decks in 8 different countries. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall - my options for where and when to work are nearly limitless because I've created a LIFESTYLE (not just a business).

No matter what time of year it is, your choice to work for yourself in a business that is not only portable but flexible, allows you to LIVE A LIFE EXTRAORDINARY; to create freedom in your life that most people only dream of.

If you're struggling to get started in your business and you're just about ready to give up in favor of letting someone else tell you where to be, when to be there, and what to do for a regular paycheck just remember:

It's YOUR life to live - why not live it on your own terms?

I created Virtual Assistant Forums because I want to see as many people reaching their personal business and lifestyle goals as possible. I'm glad you're a member and I hope you're finding it helpful in reaching your own lifestyle and business goals.

I'd love to hear back from you about how things are going in your business and what type of lifestyle you're working towards! Please take a moment to share in the comments below:

Just the pick me up I needed

As someone who works a 7-4 job, it's sometimes crushing to sit and wonder what life COULD be like beyond the cubicle. This forum serves as my light at the end of the tunnel. I can and WILL do this! It will make me a better and happier person!

I am working towards creating a lifestyle I want, not just a job. I'm set up and running, no clients yet. But I am also not actively marketing either. I'm taking a 2 week trip to Australia in less than a month (yipee!), so didn't want the stress or worry of having a new client onboard then.

So I'm setting up my social media accounts, engaging in them, writing blog posts, etc. When I actively go pursue people, I want to look like I have something to show for it!

Thanks for the encouragement.

kmohan and Genuine Sunshine - both of you absolutely CAN create the lifestyles and businesses that you want! It takes hard work but you WILL get there... I know it's true and I'm typing this to you from a vacation rental in Malaysia I took my work with me! Focus on what it is that keeps you GOING after those goals and don't let anything stop you or anyone tell you you can't do it!
