Find this virtual assistant on Facebook
Default Personal and business FB pages
I originally set up a personal FB page, then just a few days ago added a page for my business. When I created the business page it asked me if I already had a FB account, so I put in the account that was existing. How can I get the business page to be the default? If I want to add an application, such as the memorable web address, it defaults to my personal page. Also, when I first log on, my personal page is what comes up and I can't figure out how to get to my business page, unless I type it in the search. Is there anyway to link the 2 somehow?
Thanks for any help, I'm ready to throw in the towel on this one.

And, btw, I set up the special domain name of facebook/theresasheridanenterprises and it takes me to my personal page, even though I was on my business page when I did this.
There must be some way to separate the two, but I sure can't figure it out.
Thanks again.

Hi Theresa,

Facebook can be kind of confusing at first. The personal page can be referred to as the facebook profile where you have friends, while the business page is referred to as the fan page where you will have fans. You can only have one profile, but you can have many pages. Do not use your profile for promoting your business or you will get closed quickly. Once you set a name it cannot be changed. So you have facebook/theresasheridanenterprises as your profile and can never be changed. Once your fan page reaches 100 fan you will be able to chose a name for it as well.

When you login to facebook you will automatically be taken to the profile. Your fan pages will always be 'owned' by your profile.
To get to your page:
The bottom toolbar, far left you will see Applications, click that once.
Now click on Ads and Pages once.
You will be brought to a new page with static information.
Below the graph you will see the name of your page, click on that to go to your page.
Or you click here: http://www.facebook.com/advertising/?pages and at the top right just below create a page it says manage, click there.

For the applications, not all applications will function with pages. The easiest way to search for applications for a page is to do this:
On your page click edit.
Now you will be taken to the admin area. You can change all aspects of your page here.
Scroll all the way to the bottom and find More Applications.
Look to the right of it, the little pencil, click once on that.
Now click Browse More.
Now you are in the applications area.
Now search for what ever application you like. Click on it and then hit add to page if you like the application.

Here is the memorable web address: http://www.facebook.com/apps/applica...79915&ref=appd Just hit add to page, you will have to be logged in.

A few good business applications I recommend:
Extend Info: This allows you to add your own custom fields and answers, as well as HTML fields that you have full control over.
FBML: This allows you a custom HTML area where you can put what ever you like.
Selective Twitter Status: When you tweet just enter #fb at the end and it will be placed in your fan page. This way you are not cluttering your page with just conversational items but quality information.

There are also some other great ones. Here is a great post for you to read: http://mashable.com/2009/01/22/business-facebook-apps/

Hope that helps

I'm still having trouble figuring out the memorable web address application. I've installed it, but when I try to add it to my page and select the page, it's telling me that the page already exists. If you go to http://companies.to/theresasheridanenterprises, it take you to an info page of some kind, but I don't know what for. It seems like it's an application info page with me as the developer??? It won't let me edit any of the information either. I'm really confused now. Erin and Rebecca, you two really seem to have the FB thing down, do you know how I can straighten this out? Should I just delete my business page and start over?

The Memorable Web Address shows this message to anyone that clicks on your link if they are not using this application on thier profile. You are not using it on your profile because you have your user name saved, which is better.

You will see 'Before you continue to Theresa's...." and you can click on your name. Just click that and you will be taken to your business page.

A way to get around all this is to use your website and do a 301 redirect. So for example make a new page on your site that is http://www.theresasheridan.com/facebook and have it direct right to your facebook fan page. Then when ever you are giving your facebook URL you are also supporting your brand

Let me know if that helps at all.

Hmmm, I don't see 'Before you continue to Theresa's...." anywhere. If I click on my photo in the "about the developer" box it takes me to my personal page.
If I click the link on the bottom of Rebecca's posts (she has the "companies.to...." address), it takes me directly to her facebook Boxes page, so I'm confused as to why I can get to her page this way (if I'm not using that application on my profile) but not my own.

When I click on the link you provided to your page it goes right to it. Can you provide a link to the page you see? I may not get the same page you do as I will be logged in under me but I will give it try
