Default Virtual Assistant to Health and Wellness Practitioners
Any VAs to Health and Wellness Practitioners? If yes, what kind of work do you perform for them and how did you get your first client in that industry? Thanks!

Hi,

I am not directly a VA to a health and wellness practitioner though I am a VA to a lady who runs a website that is a resource for those that suffer from mental illness and all kinds of practitioners that offer complimentary therapies from counselling to reiki, massage to hypnotherapy. I was speaking to a lovely lady today who is Zero balancing guru in our neck of the woods and she seemed very interested in what I can do..

Initially, I offered a certain number of hours on a voluntary basis and now I am a contributing team member to her website and she has become a genuine client. Whilst volunteering may not be the best thing for you there may be other options, one thing I have found is that people in this industry do like recommendations and like to put a face to the name, so its all about networking networking networking.

There may be health and wellness forums where you can connect with people as well as centres near you that use self employed therapists/practitioners - i'd focus on one target group first ie medical practioners or complimentary therapists or charitable organisations - perhaps some marketing material geared specifically at them would help, perhaps some fliers or postcards at one of your local centres.

And i'd also say get involved. For instance, I am helping to promote the Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Month here in the UK which means lots of twitter retweets, a lot of linking to facebook threads etc etc etc and since doing so traffic to my site has improved a great deal. People in the Health and Wellness profession all want to talk about what they do. Be there to listen, find out where you can slot into their business and let them know you are there if they need you. It may take a bit of time but you'll get there!!!

Good Luck!!!

I do website work for my mom who is selling wellness products. I do social media updates, blog updates, website maintenance and sometimes shipping. Plus I help with an annual event we do where I process payments, check people in, etc.
Hope this helps!

Hi Nellie,

I currently do not have any client but Health and Wellness Practitioners are in my niche. An associate of mines happens to be a Holistic WP and I am meeting with her soon to speak to her about the industry and what there needs are. I will share this information once I have spoken to her if this is something you would be interested in.

:-)

I do newsletter management (so uploading and sending out to their lists), and social media management (so posting to FB, twitter and onto forums)

Realised that you wanted to know how I got my first client in the niche... Word of mouth - somebody who designs websites knows somebody who was already working as a VA with coaches and was ill so needed someone to pick up the work she couldn't manage.

Most of my clients are in the Health & Wellness industry. It took time before I realized this was my niche LOL. I seem to attract coaches in this industry. The first client I landed was from a response to an RFP. That was 1.5 years ago and we're still going strong. I do a variety of things for my clients, mostly website administration and shopping cart management.

Good Evening,

I really haven't thought about a niche persay - but I do like the input in the health and wellness - this has opened my eyes to questions and other possibly leads that I might not otherwise have considered...even if it is just networking right now.

My niche is health care. I have not had the pleasure of working with them virtually. I chose healthcare because I have associate's degree in medical office administration and over nine years medical office experience.
