Hi, The issue of patient-doctor confidentiality has never come up or been an issue. I sign a Confidentiality Agreement with all clients. Good question, though!

Hi,

I am searching for more information in this field. I have done medical billing, coding and transcription services in the past. I graduated from a certificate program in Medical Office Management and owned a medical billing and marketing company.

I have never thought of approaching this field for virtual assistant services however - next month I am moving into an office building with approximately 15 - 20 therapists and 3/4 of them are private practice and do not have a receptionist or any other support services.

I am excited as this is a small private location with approximately 34 businesses.

I would like to market to this group but unsure on the approach, would love some tips and suggestions?

Thanks,
Patti

I work for three different psychologists and they all offer therapy and neuropsych testing. Ask away with questions. Currently I answer phones, return messages, get messages to the Doctor's, schedule patients. I have verified insurance. I do a lot of what I would do as a receptionist working in their office.

Would you mind sharing a bit of information about your systems for answering phones, returning messages, and scheduling remotely for the psychologists? I have experience doing intake and scheduling for therapists, and I'm considering working that service into my business plan. However, I'm afraid that the phone tag necessary for this type of task might eat up a lot of time? Thanks for any input.

How do you charge for your service? by the hour? Is it hard to juggle 3 clients at the same time?

@Lisa- I'm so excited to hear that you do transcription work with Mental Health Professionals, this is exactly the sort of work I would like to get into! I was wondering how you found your first clients in this field? I know a few people who work for Health and Human Services, as well as a few Psychologists (professors), and I've been thinking of asking them if they know anyone who would be interested in hiring a VA. Did you go anywhere in particular to find transcription work with Mental Health Professionals?

Hi Jan,

I just recently found this website and this post. I am aware that it is a few years old but I still wanted to respond to see if you are still looking as well as meet a fellow vet "VA". Are you open to discuss the possibility of networking? I have worked with therapists for about 8 years now, and recently made the decision to start my own business. I look forward to hearing from you.
