Snowy Days and the Virtual Assistant

I was thinking about this today while it kept on snowing. I even remember checking Facebook and seeing folks who did go in to their corporate jobs and exclaiming that they were the only ones there, which I remember being sort of nice. It was always quiet.
Then I got to thinking about the fact that when it snows or the weather is really bad business owners who rely on their assistants are often with out them. But, if they have a virtual assistant the work isn't always stopped due to bad weather, because the VA is usually right there working from their own office. Plus IF there is a reason for the VA to not be able to complete a project during bad weather - I am thinking power outage or downed internet service - the business owner isn't pay for the down time like they would with a full time employee.
This is just one of the benefits of hiring a virtual assistant instead of a full time in house office employee. What it boils down to is that the show usually goes on with an assigned project. The business owner still gets their work completed AND the virtual assistant still has work to do. This is why I love the idea of being a virtual assistant. You aren't totally relying on the boss being IN the office to give you assignments because your work is coming to through remotely from your clients.

That's a really good point, and one that I hadn't thought of.
