Not sure if my site was hacked or if i downloaded a virus when downloading a theme file (which after downloading, did not appear in my themes area).

Anyways, now when i go into Page - Edit, via the dashboard, I get a blank screen.

If my site was hacked, what do i do? How do I figure out if it was hacked?

If it was a virus that i downloaded, thinking it was a legit theme file, how do i fix that?

Has anyone seen or come across such a problem?

Vivi,
Jump into your site through FTP and delete the theme you downloaded from the themes folder. WP will revert back to default theme and you should be fine from there. If it doesn't fix the problem then something else is going on.

Thanks for the tip, I had already done that and no luck.

Everything else seems to be working, just can not access the Page area where it lists the pages and then gives you the option to edit or delete.

Can't seem to find anything on the internet like this either. I posted a ticket to wordpress.org but am still waiting to see if anyone has a clue as to what happened.

There are a few things out there on wp sites being hacked but honestly can not make sense of how to find out if that's the problem here.

Any ideas on how to check to see if your wp site has been hacked?

Make sure all updates have been done first.

Also check if any new user accounts have been created on your WP install

-You can check your php files for anything like "eval()" command, or "base64_decode()"

-or check your .htaccess file for anything like
"<ifmodule mod_security.c>
<files async-upload.php>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</files>
</ifmodule>"

I read on another board to disable all plugins and then see if that fixes the problem. It did! Turns out that even deactivated plugins can cause trouble if you don't delete them.
