Default How to add copyright to footer in Wordpress
I've checked out the Wordpress.org and am still not sure how to enter the code for copyright in the footer. Where exactly do you put it?

Thanks.

Default Re: How to add copyright to footer in Wordpress
Depending on the theme it differs however there should be a footer.php file that you can add it to.

Default Re: How to add copyright to footer in Wordpress
Here are some instructions on how to do this, as an example, say that you want to add a link or a copyright text to the bottom of WordPress's default theme, you have login to your site using FTP (Cyberduck is a free FTP client your can download) then navigate to this location:

Wordpress root folder, this might be at public_html or if your blog is at yourwebsite.com/blog it will be at public_html/blog

Then go to: wp-content/themes/default

There you will see a list of files, the one you want to edit is footer.php which by default looks like this:

PHP Code:
<?php
/**
 * @package WordPress
 * @subpackage Default_Theme
 */
?>

<hr />
<div id="footer" role="contentinfo">
<!-- If you'd like to support WordPress, having the "powered by" link somewhere on your blog is the best way; it's our only promotion or advertising. -->
    <p>
        <?php bloginfo('name'); ?> is proudly powered by
        <a href="http://wordpress.org/">WordPress</a>
        <br /><a href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>">Entries (RSS)</a>
        and <a href="<?php bloginfo('comments_rss2_url'); ?>">Comments (RSS)</a>.
        <!-- <?php echo get_num_queries(); ?> queries. <?php timer_stop(1); ?> seconds. -->
    </p>
</div>
</div>

<!-- Gorgeous design by Michael Heilemann - http://binarybonsai.com/kubrick/ -->
<?php /* "Just what do you think you're doing Dave?" */ ?>

        <?php wp_footer(); ?>
</body>
</html>
Notice where it says: "<?php bloginfo('name'); ?> is proudly powered by" you can add your copyright text right before that so that you have something like this:

PHP Code:

<?php
/**
 * @package WordPress
 * @subpackage Default_Theme
 */
?>

<hr />
<div id="footer" role="contentinfo">
<!-- If you'd like to support WordPress, having the "powered by" link somewhere on your blog is the best way; it's our only promotion or advertising. -->
    <p>

                 MY COPYRIGHT TEXT GOES HERE<br />

        <?php bloginfo('name'); ?> is proudly powered by
        <a href="http://wordpress.org/">WordPress</a>
        <br /><a href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>">Entries (RSS)</a>
        and <a href="<?php bloginfo('comments_rss2_url'); ?>">Comments (RSS)</a>.
        <!-- <?php echo get_num_queries(); ?> queries. <?php timer_stop(1); ?> seconds. -->
    </p>
</div>
</div>

<!-- Gorgeous design by Michael Heilemann - http://binarybonsai.com/kubrick/ -->
<?php /* "Just what do you think you're doing Dave?" */ ?>

        <?php wp_footer(); ?>
</body>
</html>
If you are using another theme, you can go to it's folder in FTP and find it's footer.php, there you will possibly find some copyright link for the designer of the theme and you may add your own text right before that or after it or wherever makes sense to you.

I hope this helps!
