Digital Transcription
Hello everyone
I am interested in offering transcription to my services. I love to type....type in my sleep sometimes LOL.
I have had several jobs in transcription where I have used the old school cassette tapes. 2 transcription "jobs" that I worked at long term were conducted on site at their office - one was typing up legal descriptions of properties for a title company - we typed what we saw from scanned legal documents and the other job was for Geico typing up interviews of how accidents happened from digital recordings.
I have had 2 clients that I have done transcription for - one dictated a book he was writing over the phone to me and I typed while he talked. The other sent me old school cassette tapes.
My question is this....I don't really know anything about how the new breed of transcription works....digital files and all that....I know how cassette tapes work etc. How can I go about learning what digital files are and how they work and what kind of equipment I would need.
I find lots of information when searching online but no real Digital Recording 101 information.....I mean really, really basic LOL! Like tell me what a digital file is to begin with!!!
Thanks for your help :-)
