Quickbooks online for several clients

I have two clients that want me to keep books on Quickbooks online. They want me to use the online version because they want to be able to view it and work in it as well.

How does this work with two clients. Can I use Quickbooks online and keep separate logins and books for each client?

Each client should have their own set of books. Since they are choosing QB online I am assuming that they are paying the monthly fees. I would have each set up their account and give you access to the account. Should you ever part ways there would be no disruption in their books.

QB Online only allows one company per license so you would need to keep them separate. Each account allows access for at least one user + an accountant so that would not be an issue of shared log-ins.

I didn't know that quickbooks could be used online! I just assumed that I would use a remote login program to access clients quickbooks program? Would you say that it is better to recommend that they do it online with their va or use remote login? (if they ask for your advice on it)

I'm currently working in QuickBooks Online with several clients. Each client simply needs to add you as an user on their set of books. Upon logging in, each client that I'm working with is listed. I just click on their company name and start working.

I have tried QB online. However I was dissatisfied with the User interface. I prefer the traditional QB. If their are multiple clients, you can always use the QB file which can be sent back to them.

I have used both Traditional and online. I think that the online version is a good choice if you or your client does not want to deal with a remote access. I have never charged my clients a fee for using the online version though. Do you guys charge it?

What if your client decides they no longer need your services? If you pay for it, I would think you should get reimbursed through invoicing. If you are no longer supporting them, they will have to pay the monthly fee anyway to access the program.

I personally prefer the Online QB. It allows me, and my clients, access to the books from any computer with an Internet connection. (Not tied to a software programs on a particular computer.) I have several clients utilizing QB Online. They each have their own account and I have a login for each.

If you are set on using the traditional QB version, but do not want to use remote access, and both you and your client have a copy of the same version of the program; one solutions I have utilized in the past is saving the QB data files to a Dropbox folder that is shared between myself and the client. This way when one of you accesses the books the others transactions will be present. It seems to work good for this client.

I love, love, love Dropbox but I found it didn't work for using QuickBooks with a client. Because of the way Dropbox works, when you access the QB file, it brings it local to your machine then puts it back when you are done. If your client is accessing the file at the same time, you will find more than one copy of the QB file in your Dropbox with one or more saying "conflicting copy." Conversations with Dropbox help confirmed what I was seeing and there is no help for it.

Generally my client and myself are not in the QB file at the same time. They just open it once in a while to check account status. Therefore I have not had any problems with this issue. One solution would be to have your client check with you before opening the file to ensure you are not currently accessing the database (or vise versa).
