I am getting ready to officially open on August 1st. I have nightmares about never getting one client. Hopefully I will be wrong.

Congratulations on your first nibble!

I feel the exact same way: i have everything ready but keep going over and over little details before I fully launch my website (that is ready by the way). I have all of my marketing material, taken all of the classes that I thought would help me out. Now I just have to get over this fear!!! Glad to see that I am not the only one who goes through this!

Same here...I've just formally opened for business last month and have not contracted with my first (of many!!) paying clients yet. I keep going over my new client intake form...I REALLY want to sound professional. I'm hoping it'll get better after that first consultation.

I think what you are feeling is perfectly normal. You will learn from stumbling through it and next time you will be more confident and know what to say. One of my favorite quotes is:

"Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes"

Don't be so hard on yourself. Best of Luck.

I think you are speaking for a lot of people here. It is difficult at any time to face new challenges. Even if you have been doing the same work in employment for many years, it is easy to convince yourself that because you will be working for yourself, that suddenly you will lose the abilities and skills that you have built up over such a long period of time. You need to stop listening to the devil on one shoulder who tells you that you will fail and start listening to the angel on the other who knows you can succeed.

Good luck with your 'nibble'.

Sue

I am ready to start my Virtual Bookkeeping/Virtual Assistant business but feel "not quite ready" too!
I am more nervous about the forms, and how to charge the clients. Can anyone help me out on that issue?
I have 2 clients so far and have had them since 2006 and we have a weekly pay schedule but now that I am expanding - I need some insight on what a Bookkeeper actually can make per hr, etc.

I'm nervous everytime I sign a new client. It's the whole idea of beginning a new relationship but it usually works out great!

This same thing happened to me, with my first client inquiry. I actually got the client though, so it may still work out for you.

Beth I'm just starting out myself and I have butterflies already. I don't know if I'm good enough or capable of getting my first client. But perseverance is what we need just keep going about what your passionate about.

Janine you offered some great tips here thank you

Hi,
I have to remind myself why I started ,it does not crunch all the fear associated with being "good enough" but it is responsible for that "yay!" feeling once you complete the deal.
