The Small Business Administration has a series of short free self-paced courses created just for small business owners. Each course takes about 30 minutes to complete, so it's easy to fit them into your schedule.

Here is a listing of the courses they currently have available:

Guide to Starting a Business
My Own Business
How to Prepare a Business Plan
How to Start a Business on a Shoestring Budget
Franchising Basics
Technology 101: A Small Business Guide
The courses outline the basics of starting a small business. They also have audio explanations included in the courses.

You will need to register (it's quick) in order to use the courses.

Jo-Carole,

I love the SBA, they offer so much information for the small business owner. Thanks for passing along this information, it will be helpful to many.

Thanks for sharing this resource, Jo-Carole! I've been worried about setting up my business "right."

I'd be interested to hear from people who are familiar with these courses, which ones were your favorites?

Lilli,

I completed the business plan course, and it was pretty informative and easy to follow. I havent had the time to view any of the other courses, but I will as soon as I get a chance. You should definitely give them a try.
