Quick question -- why do you sign last? In general, a contract isn't valid unless all parties have signed. I have sent my contracts already signed and dated to my clients ... is that not a good idea?

Janine, thank you for your tip on echosign. I just signed up. I now feel quite debonair with my nifty electronic signature .

Like Janine, I use Echosign and have for the past three years with no problems. I love how it allows for either esignature or for letting them print, sign and fax it back to Echosign and then Echosign will automatically send you an electronic copy to both parties.

I learned about Echosign here on VAF from another VA...so I'm simply paying forward...

But it is a great program and I love the notifications it sends when the document is viewed and signed. Plus it keeps the documents online so if I have to refer back, I download a copy which is much faster than going to my external drive to locate.

For those who have used Echosign, does the recipient have to sign up for an account in order to sign the document?

I have a silly question (yes, I overthink everything LOL) about Echosign. Where does the signature on the document actually go? For instance, at the end of my contract, I now have signature lines, does the signature go on those lines or should I redo my contract and leave off the lines? If it does go on the lines, how does it know which line?

OK, I got my answer. I actually tried it with a sample contract and sent it to my sister. LOL

It is awesome!!! I love that you can put the initial fields and signature fields whereever you want. I will definitely be using echosign from now on.

Hello all! Have just found this forum and happy to be here! Look forward to gleaning alot of useful information. I'm only starting my VA business and was looking at Adobe's esignature beta program. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Adobe looks interesting but it doesn't seem as full-featured as Echosign. It doesn't seem to give an option to put a signature or initial box anywhere you want. It also seems to require the other party to create an account to sign a document. I don't believe echosign requires that. Echosign just seems easier. Thanks for the idea though. I always love to have backups.
