I use Dropbox and Google Docs.

These 2 can be used for secure document sharing.

Question? Actually scenario.. If you are doing documents up for a client and you use dropbox, they tell you that "they don't like it (but really do) and ask for it to be redone"...can they take the copy that they said they "didn't like" and use it and then refuse to pay for services. I am still new to this and tryin to figure all this out..haha...maybe I am being too paranoid...

Hi Allora,

If that's the scenario, best bet is to charge per hour. So for any changes they want made can still be accounted for. Ideally, before you do anything you talk to the client and specifically ask what they want to be done and when you submit the documents they asked for ask for feedback. If it's not at par with what they want, then changes can be made. If they didn't like it, ask what needs to be changed so you can make the appropriate changes. As there is work done, you need to be paid nonetheless. In an ideal world, the client shouldn't use the copy you did that they didn't like.

It's okay to be paranoid but sometimes we need to trust them too. Just like some clients who are wary of pre-paying VAs because they might not do the work if it's paid in advance. Online work is all about trust. But sometimes I too, get too trusting sometimes.

If you'd like to sign up for Dropbox, here is my referral link. When you refer users who then sign up, that account holder earns 250MB more free space and so does the new account holder! It's also free.
Being a true Dropbox user, shamefully I didn't even know of this fab bit of information. This is also such a great piece of advice to offer our clients as well. Thank you, Kate, for mentioning this. I definitely am going to pass this on!

^Patty, to get more storage for free, it doesn't hurt to pass this on to clients or friends who will find the software useful.
