Default Google Voice
I forward my GV to my sprint phone and I want to have 2 seperate voicemail one for my sprint callers, which is personal, and one for my GV which is for business. Does anyone know if this can be done? If so please advice.

Thanks.

Google voice should allow you to set-up ring through / voicemail for each account. You do not set-up the GV number to "forward" to your cell phone, but instead set-it up to ring to your cell phone. (You should be able to have it ring simultaneously to your softphone and your cell phone.)

If the call is not answered after X rings the call will go to the Google Voice voicemail recoding set-up. Just make sure you set-up the number of rings before it goes to voicemail to LOWER then the number of rings your cell phone is set-up for before going to voicemail. (i.e., your cell phone goes to voicemail after 5 rings, so set-up your Google Voice account to go to voicemail after 4 rings.)

Now the calls dialed directly to your cell phone will get the voicemail on your cell phone and the calls to your Google Voice account will get the voicemail set-up on your Google Voice account.

My apologies Julie, that's what I meant I set it to ring to my cell number. However when I try to set my GV voicemail it's trying to replace my sprint voicemail and does not give me any other options. How do I set just the GV voicemail?

Have you checked the Google Voice Help center? If you can't find your answer, perhaps this is an option.

You can set up caller groups in your GV settings. You can create a personal VM and a professional. Sort your contacts accordingly. You could use your professional VM as default so anyone hears that, then as you move personal people to that circle, they hear your personal greeting.

This is an old question, but I'm new here :P

I wrote a blog post about Google Voice a few months ago and it is by far the most read blog post. I've actually even had someone call me to ask a question. LOL I wasn't that busy at that moment so actually talked to them. What the heck.

Anyhoo....I don't know if you can link to blog articles on these forums so I'll just say a few things. First, I'm using an iPhone not Android. But the way I set my Google voice up was for it to ring my iPhone with a different ringtone than my personal calls.

So if its a business call I know it instantly without even looking. The iPhone rings, but Google Voice handles the voicemail. Also, I've set Google Voice up so that if someone calls that number outside of business hours, they get an message explaining my business hours and to please leave a message. My iPhone doesn't even ring at all.

Finally, of course...I am notified via my Gmail account whenever I've missed a call or someone leaves a message. If you'd like a link to the blog article, just private message me and I'll give you the URL.

Yes, you can answer (or call out) using GVoice on your computer. Just open your browser and leave the Gmail tab pinned open. When a call comes it, trust me .. you'll know it

Thank you Oofva. I am setting up google voice now but I am not sure if I have to choose another number in order for it to ring to my cell phone or I have to use my cell number which I don't want to use.
