Am I being unfair?
When I see the same photo in my entire page of Twitter posts, I unfollow that person. Am I being unfair? Two, three or even four posts in a row I can understand, 140 characters might not be enough for the message. After that amount, I form an opinion of that person and feel they should either get a life, get over themselves or get back to work. Again, am I being unfair?

Re: Am I being unfair?
No, I do not think that is being unfair. Some do not know how to use twitter or have been given the wrong information about how to use twitter. Most people will be like you and unfollow someone that is abusing the twitter system. If I see the same person posting about themselves, how is that helping me or how is that relevant to my business? Twitter is all about making yourself the expert in a particular field, by answering questions and posting useful information. Most would not follow someone that Only talks about themselves.
I too unfollow those who only post, Buy Me, All About Me, or See ME posts.

Re: Am I being unfair?
People use twitter in many different ways. I follow some who tweet hundreds of times a day. I still follow because either I have met them IRL (in real life), they are valuable contacts and/or they tweet good info.
Once you are following a good number of people it makes sense to change the way you use it. No longer can you read the stream very much. You can search for topics, search hashtags and set up or follow other people's lists so you know you're reading topics and people of interest. Also, using Tweetdeck or other similar programs allow you to set up searches and lists. Then you control who you put in them and just leave the others (who tweet too much or do other irritating things) in the main stream which you don't read often.
That all said, it is yours to use as you wish! I either don't follow or unfollow for lots of reasons, mostly the same ones Andrea mentioned. I don't really mind overtweeting as long as it's conversation as opposed to feeds and quotes. Sometimes I catch myself overthinking it and have to remind myself it's only twitter!
Are you being unfair? I don't think so. Life's too short to worry about it - just unfollow! It's your stream!

Re: Am I being unfair?
I agree life's too short to deal with the over enthusiastic tweeter but twitter as a whole is excellent.

Re: Am I being unfair?
I agree with everything that has been said and I too will continue to follow someone who has lots of tweets but offer valuable information. I utilize lists and groups based on certain people and subjects so that I am not overpowered by reading all the tweets that are just that. Do what works for you and don't feel bad about it.

Re: Am I being unfair?
I thought the whole idea about twitter is to drop in and out of conversations, start your own or just sit back and listen, You choose. I don't think its unfair. But then I am still learning about twitter.

Re: Am I being unfair?
I agree with everyone else. I think I've only unfollowed 2 people so far. One just because her tweets were all about her and one because, as you said, his picture was filling up my Twitter stream and none of it was of any value (his #FFs were the worst. He should have just said, "#FF everyone I'm following because they all ROCK IMO!" and been done with it...lol).
I think the new list feature is great because even if I choose not to follow someone, I can still keep up with them in my list. Also, if I haven't been on in a while (I don't have a nifty smart phone ), I can just go to my "favorites" list to see what I've missed out of the Tweets I most enjoy seeing.

Re: Am I being unfair?
Thanks everyone for the input. The ones I've unfollowed so far have posted on and on about how fantastic they are or have sent spam to my email. If the person has valuable information, I do overlook numberous posts and I also look at the time stamp since I don't follow that many. Guess I need to learn more about the features of Twitter to weed out what I don't want or need but that's another day.

Re: Am I being unfair?
I have unfollowed two people so far, they became followers, so I followed them then they turned out to be shall I say "adult" content, which I don't want. Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Am I being unfair?
Oh yes, I have been followed by lots of 'adult' tweeters. Some of the photos were a bit interesting.
