Default Twitter Backgrounds - Customizing
Hi All,

So like most of us, I use twitter. The one thing I struggle with though is creating a great looking Twitter Background. I've tried a bunch of the free services and would love to have a customized background created but truthfully it's not a high priority of the money spending scale at the moment.

So I wonder, do any of you have an advice on how I could go about creating a great looking twitter background for someone who is certainly does not consider themselves much a graphics persons?

Basic, basic edit of photos is about the extent of my graphics abilities

Renee - Thanks for giving me a chance to talk about this! Nobody makes a point of it, but Twitter backgrounds are seen by other people once and once only: when they follow you for the first time. Otherwise, you're the only one who ever looks at it.

So when you look at the Twitter page of new peeps who have followed you, do you follow them sometimes even if their background is very basic, maybe not styled at all? I do, because other factors about the person are really what I am judging. If they're lousy at Twitter backgrounds, it really doesn't matter at all.

If you're anything like this, you'll see how it doesn't make much sense to spend a lot of energy on your Twitter background. If you can edit photos, size one at 1800 x 1000 and upload it through the Settings tab and be done with it.

I have my website URL and more on my Twitter background, as others do - but how often do you actually copy/paste these? Never, in my experience. The background is only an image, and none of its elements are interactive.

Do you see why I wanted to sound off on this subject? Hope it's not too much info!

Love the feed Mary. It's appreciated and I totally get where you are coming from, I guess for me it doesn't stop me from following something, but I have found myself wanting to learning more about the person because their twitter page did make me stop and take a bit of information in.

But you're right, there isn't a need to spend too much time on this, create something that I'm satisfied with I should be done with it

I appreciate the different perspective.

Renee,

There are several customized twitter tutorials on YouTube. I followed a few from there when I was trying to customize a twitter background.

Another option besides twitterbacks and others from YouTube is to use a PowerPoint template. Here is another link you can check out. http://theclosetentrepreneur.com/cre...ing-powerpoint

One of the reasons I took the time to learn how to create a twitter background was that I wanted to offer it as a service to setting up client twitter accounts. I didn't expect a 'run' on that service but I thought I'd learn anyway on my own.
