Default Facebook changing "Become a Fan" to "Likes"
Just ran across this today that Facebook will soon be doing away with the "Become a Fan" button and instead changing it to a "Like" button. So, essentially, you will still become a fan of the page, but instead of saying you are a fan of a brand or business, you are indicating a Like for this brand or business. It will still show up in your Newsfeed and on your profile, they're just changing the wording.

This means that for any client fan pages where you may have designed a custom tab which included the call to action of "Click on the Become a Fan" button above, it will need to be revised to reflect the newest changes once Facebook implements it.

What is not clear, is whether people who "Like" a page will still be considered Fans or if they'll be considered something else.

You can read more about this upcoming change HERE.

Kimberly, thanks for sharing this information. It is amazing how frequent Facebook makes changes to their site. It can definitely be a challenge keeping up with them but it's nothing we can't handle!

I wish Facebook would stop making changes. Just when I get everyone up to speed they make another change. I would prefer become a fan instead of like. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for sharing this Kim.

Facebook is also recommending to ad agencies that they should use the term "Find us on Facebook" or "Like us on Facebook". They said that there is no word yet if they are going to do away with the term "Fan Pages", but they they were told that the "pages" will still be called "FanPages". So, I guess if you wanted to change some buttons on your site or you were thinking about printing some marketing material......may want to wait a couple of weeks to see what happens.
