Default VA Survival Series #1 Business Policies - Clerical Advantage Blog
#1:Business Policies

It is important that before you even think about talking to potential clients that you have set out your business policies. Take the time to clearly define the following items for your business.

Price
There is a lot more to setting your prices than being competive. Make sure you take your costs of running your business into consideration when making the decision about your what your rates are going to be.

Payment Methods
You need to know just how you’re going to receive payment from your clients. Will you take personal checks, business checks or no checks at all. What about credit cards? Think about all the methods and the pros and cons of each before deciding on how you will accept payments.

Late Payments
You will also need to set a policy about how you will handle...Click here to read the rest of this post at the Clerical Advantage Blog.

Couldn't have said it better myself
When I was getting started I did not have a support system or resource like VAF because I didn't even realize there was a term for what I was doing! As a result, I got started without many important policies in place and learned the hard way how important each and every one is. I'm grateful for all of the experiences, as difficult as many of them were, because it made me a stronger and more educated business owner, but it would have been wonderful to have been able to avoid some of that unnecessary stress.

I wish someone would have given me that piece of advice when I first took off with this idea! I started with no policies in place.. and of course I ran into issues because of this pretty quickly! I have since set official policies and make sure to include them in any welcome information I send.

Glad I read this. I've been working for about three or four months on developing my business and policies and procedures. I figured I would rather launch right than to launch right now. This just confirms I'm doing the right thing by waiting.

My website is taking longer than anticipated, so I am using this time to put together my policies and welcome packets. VAF is priceless --- I am so happy I signed up!
