Travel arrangements etc
Sorry If I have put this in the wrong section.
I was wondering what do some of you do in regards to booking travel arrangements for your clients. So maybe booking a holiday for them, flights hotel etc. In terms of the payment for it. It's a service I want to offer but i don't have a lot of spare money (well I have none) to be able to book those kind of things and then invoice for. Just wondered what other people do?

Re: Travel arrangements etc
I arrange travel for all my clients. I use their credit cards to pay for the travel. You would need to have a file on their details and preferences, such as credit card details, passport details, frequent flyer numbers, seat preferences, etc.
Hope this helps.

Re: Travel arrangements etc
I have not worked in the travel industry myself. I have worked in Banking, IT, Telecoms and Education but one of my clients has asked me if I can book his family holiday for him. I already do the research end and send that through to clients but not actually paid for them and just wondered what people did.

Re: Travel arrangements etc
I have extensive travel (domestic and international) experience having worked in corporate america for ooodles of years. I also offer full travel arrangements to my clients.
As EAinSpain stated, get their credit card, seat preferences, frequent flyer numbers, know their preferred airlines, passport, visa details before you do any research on the trip or make any arrangements.
You can create a form to send to your clients when they sign on as your client, beforehand, asking for all this information, so that you have it on hand should a client ask you to do research for a trip. You want to make sure you get a deposit in advance before doing any research, and you have the means for the client to pay for the trip.

Re: Travel arrangements etc
I research and book travel arrangements for my clients and do the same as Hilde - use their credit card details. You can have them sign a credit card authorization form (do a Google search - there are lots of good examples out there). Like everyone else said, just make sure you get all their preferences ahead of time.

Re: Travel arrangements etc
Jessica,
When booking travel I use their CC to book the reservations. Like Hilde said you will need some details on the client and anyone you are booking for. For flights in the US you will also need names, birth dates and general information to book the tickets for the passenger. I also find out if they have a particular airline, hotel or car rental company and the airport they prefer to fly out of.
I also put together an itinerary plan so that once the details are together they have one handy area to go for all the details that they can print out or store on their phone, tablet, computer, etc.
I only invoice for the time of research and bookings while they pay themselves for all the tickets, reservations, etc.

Re: Travel arrangements etc
Thanks for the info. This is also something I would like to do. Making a form is a great idea. (I guess it's a great idea for many things)
