Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
I love the idea of a USB as a gift!

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
Melody, I love your USB drive idea for the packet.
I think pdf's are personally the way to go as opposed to mail. While I am also a visual and tactile person I also hate getting a lot of mail. It just piles up, then you have to sort it, and most of it goes to the trash anyway and it just seems like such a waste of paper. I'd hate to see all that paper just being tossed.
Now if a client asked for paper that would be different like the one VA suggested she offers the choice. That's an option, but it's also costly to use all that paper, ink, notebooks, fliers, and whatever else you decide to put in them so you need to consider that it will cost you more to send a hard copy as opposed to a prettied up pdf.

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
I have both a hard and a pdf packet, but mostly use the pdf. I select a welcome/thank you item based on the client, and have several options that include flash drives, gift cards, edible gifts, etc.

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
Rhonda - I'm glad that you liked the USB idea, however, it was Sarah's not mine. She needs the credit for that!! It is a great idea. As Lisa said she uses USB's, gift cards and edible items for her clients.
Lisa - I have a question for you. How do you determine which type of gift will be appropriate for each client? If the client is virtual, I wonder how you decide.
Thanks for your input!

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
I've only had to make new client packets for a few clients, but I've just made it a point of asking them if they would like a printed copy mailed. No one has said yes, yet, and I send the pdf anyway.
The gift is a great idea! Especially if it's something they can keep in their work space so they see or use it regularly and are reminded of you. Hmmm. Now I'm thinking of swag potential!

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
Since I have been open since 92, I typically send out both a pdf and hard copy depending on my clients comfort level. I try to find out during the intake session which type of welcome Pak the client prefers. I always mail a welcome gift. Jump drives, coffee mug, calculator, or a stress ball all of which as my logo telephone and website on it.

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
I think with the way technology is it is faster with pdf but having a hard copy sent to them is also a very good idea. That way they can not say they lost in if their computer crashed

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
Hi Sarah, as I just started, I only have 2 small clients and both of them are located abroad therefore I use PDFs only. In any case, I think it is much more convenient compared with hard copies.

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
I was just pondering new client packet delivery last night. I was initially going to send a pdf for signature, then print the signed copy and mail in a company branded folder with a couple of business cards. Thanks to this thread, I will eventually add a "Thank You / functional / promotional" gift to the group!
I am bookmarking this page as a reminder for creative USBs in the future. https://www.customusb.com
Thank you…!

Re: Mail or pdf welcome packet?
As I am just in the beginning stages of researching to open my business I don't have any experience in this, but I would think as a virtual assistant the PDF option would not sound odd to the client. Also, I love the idea of a thank you card/gift, especially customizing it to the type of client you work with.
