Default Help with setting up Gmail Account
Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone uses Gmail for their business email (setting it up to mirror your web address i.e. example@xxxxx.com).
I am in the process of doing that, and am at the part where they need to verify that I own my domain.
I have tried all the options (except the Google Analytics) to verify and I can't get ANY to work!
Can anyone provide any help?

Thank you!

I haven't exactly encountered this but did find this Google page that might be helpful. It may depend on what exactly you can't get to work. You may end up needing to call your hosting service or trying to contact Google using their forum.

I use Google for my business email. Once you set it up, it pretty much takes you step by step on how to verify that you own your domain.

You'll see information stating it's going to take you approximately 40 minutes or something like that to set it up. It only takes about 10 for all the "must haves". You can set up the rest later on.

I purchased my domain from Go Daddy and just so happens it was listed as a option to verify the domain in the step by step instructions.

Hi Lavon,

Trying to make sure I understand what you are asking: Are you adding your regular email (with your domain name) to a gmail account?

If so, that process involves gmail sending you a verification code to the email address you are trying to add and you entering that code in a box.

Maybe you are trying to do something else though.

Thanks for the replies.
@Msva2011 - that's the part I'm stuck on. I purchased my domain name from GoDaddy so I selected that option to verify and it came back as not able to verify. I'm not sure if it makes a difference.
I tried the meta tag option and tried inserting the code they gave in a few different places and it came back as an error (saying that they either couldn't locate it, or it wasnt formatted correctly), and the HTML option I also had no luck.
Lol, I'm getting very frustrated on it, because I'm not sure why none of them are working! Ahhh!!

SandyM and Execgava - Thanks also for the info. There's another way (other than the one your asking about) to set up a separate email address on Gmail, but that uses your domain name.
But I'm getting stuck on verifying that I own my domain.

You may want to have GoDaddy help you resolve this issue as it sounds like there is a problem on their end. You states "I purchased my domain name from GoDaddy" however did you actually get email from them or just the domain name?

No, I only purchased my domain name from them.
I have my website hosted with Hostgator and have one email address from them. But I don't like using their mail system.
So I wanted to set up a separate email using a better platform.

Has anyone tried the domain using the HTML or meta tag option?

Are you trying to connect the email address that you have set up with Hostgator? In order to funnel in a company email you need to have it reside somewhere, which would be your host.

So basically what is happening is you are trying to pull in email from an account that does not exist. You can either set up another email address with Hostgator or use the one that you currently have. Either way, you will need to go into their email system to get your verification code.

Just so you know that even though you set this up to show yourname@email.com when sending emails your people may see yourname@email.com sent on behalf of youraccount@gmail.com.
