Rebecka, great tutorial!

I thought you did really good job, you can tell you know what your doing and that your confident in your knowledge of QB's.

I have never used QB and I could understand it; what other great point is that you did not use any type of "accountant" lingo which was really nice and will accommodate novice learners.

The screen was clear as was the audio. Again, great job!

That was a great tutorial Rebecka. It was easy to follow and understand.

You should make more of these and offer them as a freebie download to potential clients as a way to bring more traffic to your site. OR, you could offer training as a service. I would pay to take some classes!

Thanks Shari. I actually have a client that I am creating these for, I did this one as a demo. I probably will take your suggestion and make a few to add to my website. So, if there are any topics you would like covered, let me know.

I'm trying to decide how to price them. Since this was only my first one I don't have a good idea of how long they will take me. I normally charge everything by the hour, but I'm thinking about coming up with a set price. Say $x for up to a 10 minute tutorial, or something like that.

Although the demo is short, it takes quite a bit of preparation time, because I have to come up with a plan of how to complete each task and in which order, etc.

QuickBooks is my program of choice because of it's user friendliness. It is one of the easier programs to learn on your own and is the most customizable. There are a lot of other good programs out there though that work just as well. Like MS Money, MS Accounting, Peachtree, MYOB, etc. Most offer a free trial, I would recommend trying a couple and seeing which one you are most comfortable with.

The main thing you should look for is user-friendliness, how easy it is to navigate, report options, etc. Personally I don't like Peachtree or MYOB, because they lack in the customization department.

There are some programs that you really have to have an accounting background to use because they require you do the double entry on your own, which means you have to know debits and credits and how entries need to flow to the Balance Sheet and Income Statement, etc. These are used mostly by large companies.

Although QuickBooks, Peachtree, MS Money are double-entry accounting programs as well, they do the double-entry behind the scenes for you, but still offer a journal entry function for the double-entry accounting.
