Happy new year, everyone!

Does anyone have experience on PayPal reversing a payment RECEIVED, or does the client have to initiate that? I have a client who made a double payment. She just made the payment and I couldn't quickly find a way to reverse it, so I told her I can send her a check today for the duplicate payment or take it off the remaining work I have to do for her.

I don't deal with PayPal often, so haven't run across this. (Also, I think she's paying with a credit/debit card rather than a PayPal account, if that makes any difference.)

A-ha! Thank you, Linda! In PayPal's search I kept putting in "reverse payment received" instead of using "refund." I will definitely print those instructions out for future reference. On this one she decided she wanted me to just take it off another invoice (we only have four more to go before the project is completed...one invoice for each transcript).

Hi Pam,

I asked a similar question on VAF 'how to refund a payment' and sure enough, that was indeed the correct response. Be sure to read the part on the fees that PP will refund and those they will not. I once refunded $ to the client but what she sent to me was not what she received. And since I had to foot the bill for the fees, as is my regular policy, I had to send more than the amount she sent to me as PP charges for the reverse transaction.
