I get paid with cash or a check generally. I have gotten paid with Paypal before.

I don't mind the additional banking because I can go directly to the client's bank...I live in an area where there are a lot of national and local banks...I have however, run into a situation where sometimes the institution that i am cashing the check at will take a processing fee because I am not a current bank customer. This has been the case for me so far...I have had previous experience with PayPal for other work that I've done in the past and it was a pain in the butt sometimes waiting for processing...

i found that the check and direct deposit/ach transfer into my account works best for me!

I generally receive checks. I would also use Paypal. My clients have all been local and receiving checks from them have not been a problem. On some of the bidding sites, when I used to use them, I would be paid via Paypal.

One client does direct deposit, and another via check. I am looking into PayPal though so that I can accept deposits for jobs more quickly.

I like Interac Email transfers too, but that isn't an option for non-Canadian clientele. For US or overseas clients, PayPal has been the best alternative for my business. The fees are crazy, especially where foreign exchange is concerned and even though PayPal states that their rates are current to posted foreign exchange, that isn't always the case! The convenience of receiving payment is the best option I've found for my clients and for me though.

Chase Quick Pay rules! It's a PayPal type setup without the fees (you have probably seen the commercials on tv) - the only catch is at least one of you (you or your client) has to have a Chase bank checking account.

Due to the nature of my work, a lot of my money comes in cash that I deposit myself but otherwise I prefer direct transfers to my account even though Paypal is a great alternative.

I like the IPN. Fees are only .50 no matter how much is being processed. And it goes directly into my bank account. Paypals fees are entirely too expensive. And if i ever use it again i will have the payer pay the fees. Checks are good too but through snail mail it takes some time.....
