I completely agree that you should let your client know as well. When you give the work to someone outside your company you run the risk of not keeping the clients confidentiality and they should be aware of that.

Confidentiality among professionals should not be an issue -- unfortunately though in real life many times it is. I have a confidentiality agreement within my contract but also have stand-apart/separate Confidentiality Agreements.

My clients are informed during the consultation process that I will not always be the one completing the work, but beyond that they shouldn't be bothered with the inner workings of your business. If I'm going to have another VA that I trust do some data entry or post a few blog posts, why would I bother the client? If I am hired as a professional and privy to their entire business, then I don't need permission to pass work on yo other VA's. It's my contract and client on the line so regardless of who does it, all work flows through me.

I agree - while I have not had to outsource outside Deb's Professional Services (I have had my daughter and husband do some data entry...) my site puts it plain -- I am responsible, the buck stops here. Many of my clients are Attorneys/Doctors. As stated above I include Confidentiality Agreement within my contract -- their confidentiality is of utmost concern and extra steps to protect that are taken.

If you are still outsourcing, I would like to be considered for helping with you with your overflow.

I see you are fairly new to VAF - welcome! You may be interested in the SUBCONTRACT area of the site. Also - after so many posts, you are eligible for the RFP portion.

Good luck! - Deb
