Hello All,
I am excited to joing the VA website. I ran upon this website while looking for information on starting a bookkeeping business and I thought why not go all the way and do it virtuall along with my other areas of expertise. I look forward to discussion with everyone and if there is anyone from Northern New Jersey, perhaps we can do a meet and greet.

Also I hope to have my Virtual Assistant business up and running within the next month or so. Just have to get a few more pointers on how to run a virtual office and the techniquest that should be used to obtating clients.

Glad to be a part of the community!!

Well hello there and welcome to the forums. You will find a lot of information here that will help you build your Virtual Assistant business. Read, read and soak it all in.

What made you decide to start a Bookkeeping business in the first place (just curious)?

By the way, I am in NW New Jersey myself. Nice to "meet" you and again,

Darlene

Hi D Victoria,
To answer your question of why I decided to start a bookkeeping business is due to the fact that I have a degree in accounting and I love numbers. I have worked for a few CPA firms and the hours were just too demanding especially during busy season and the hours are hard when you have a family. So I decided why not do something that I love and can do from home without the hassel of the hours. I know that there are always businesses that can't afford the the fees that the accounting firms charge for keeping their books so that's where my knowledge and expertise come into play.

Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to more chats.

In case you're interested, there's a social group for VAs in your area here: New Jersey Virtual Assistant and we have a small dedicated section for Virtual Bookkeepers - though of course you'll find valuable info in all of the topic sections here at VAF.

Make yourself at home!

Ps. I would love to pick your brain on how you do bookkeeping Virtually. I'm looking for information on picking up clients that aren't local. I usually have to go pick up bills and physically make deposits etc...
