Default New prospective VA
Hello – I’ve been reading the forums for a while now – just wasn’t ready to jump in and start asking questions until I read as much as I could, since many of my questions have already been answered in the forum.

I’ve been considering starting a VA business for some time now, and I think it’s time I jump in and ask some questions and get some encouragement. I guess first and foremost I should mention that I would be one of the few male VA’s out there. I’ve seen the threads on this topic and that has given me some encouragement in that area. So I am not worried about my gender stopping me from being a VA!

The area that I am worried about (and perhaps I shouldn’t be) is that I feel that I have an odd combination of experiences, which would, of course, be reflected in the list of services I would offer. I will list my experiences and potential offerings in a separate post in the “which services” forum.

But I will mention briefly that my strong point has always been Microsoft Access, and utilizing it to automate manual processes. I’ve successfully helped 2 different employers reduce paperwork and other time-consuming manual work, in multiple departments. And they didn't have to spend a dime on new software because they already had MS Office which included Access!

I am hoping that this, along with my handful of other services, will help me be a successful VA.

Lastly – I’m so glad to have found this forum – I’ve found a lot of helpful info here! Thanks

Welcome, Marc. I am so glad that you found your way here.

Database design and management is indeed a great skill to be able to offer to prospective clients. Don't worry about an "odd combination" of services - people will be drawn to who you are and the specific areas where you can add value for them.

Warmly,

Lorri
