I am new to the forum. I had been working at a company for 25 years and got laid off last fall. I have not been able to find a job, so I decided to look into being a VA. This looks like a great forum with lots of information to share about being a Virtual Assistant.
It's nice to meet you! I joined a while ago, but haven't been very active. I forgot about this forum until recently. I think you will find a lot of valuable information here!
I don't know if you have any interest in a free e-book, How to Know if Being a VA is Right For You, but feel free to check it out if you want to. The web page itself is aimed at the medical transcriptionist niche, but the book itself is strictly about the VA profession.

Sometimes being laid off (or fired!) can be a great push toward going out on your own! (but don't tell my boss that ) You'll find all the support and info you need on VAF to get you 'up and running.' We look forward to getting to know you better.
I was part of the unemployed crowd for three years until I decided to become a VA. Losing my job was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me! I had just started my master's program and was determined that I was going to finish it no matter what. I graduated this past May and was ready to dive into setting up my business. This forum has been very helpful and the people here are ready and willing to help answer your questions. Good luck as you move forward!
