I'm not sure why it didn't work for you but you can try http://clericaladvantage.com/2010/11/7-things-every-virtual-assistant-should-know/

Got it! Thanks, Tina. My computer just kept "thinking" whenever I tried to click on the link last night. Not sure what that was all about. But both links are working for me now!

I am saving the link to this article and I am going to send it to all those VA's who call or email me asking the same questions. I've even had some ask me for clients. Seriously? I worked this hard for this long and now you want me to just give you the goods? Not a chance. My mom keeps telling me to hurry and get more clients so she can quit her day job and work for me. HA! NOT happening!

Loved this article. It really is a must read, but still amazing that it needs be said. Seems like it would be common sense.

I think this is a great article and I couldn't agree more with being able to do basic tasks like do a web search, create a template etc.

I have read a number of posts (on other VA forums) where people ask the most basic of questions - mostly about how to create a template ... and I always shake my head and kind of wonder what they were thinking when they started a business to help people do this kind of thing ...

I have no problems in telling people that I don't have the expertise that they're after BUT I can help them solve the problem by finding the right person to help them. Saying "I don't know but I'll find out and let you know" in my book is acceptable - saying "No" isn't.

I agree that to many of us this just seems like common sense. But if you follow the term 'virtual assistant' on Twitter, you'll know that many of the tweets are about how easy it is to become a VA. Because of this, I think a lot of people start a VA business without the experience, training or professionalism that they need.

This post has been so popular and gotten so much feedback from other virtual assistants that I'm working on a follow-up post!

That is such a great article.

I'm still preparing for my business opening in the fall, still in school. And, there are lots of things that I don't know, but am going to keep educating myself, into perpetuity.

The VA community is very open and sharing, and it is a wonderful thing.
For those of us who are still inexperienced, be it as a VA or as a business owner, there is the temptation to get the answers from someone more experienced. But that does nothing to help you gain experience. Finding things out and doing them for yourself is the process of learning and obtaining experience.

Thanks to all of the VAs out there who do share their knowledge and experience. That is what makes this such a fantastic industry!
