I will use craigslist to post ads as well as look for businesses who are in search of a employee. I will and also google/yahoo to place ads. I also have business contacts from working in the Federal government and law firms so hopefully I can pull from there to get clients. Networking will also be a source for me. Targeting small businesses at first. Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Both are worthwhile. Look at VFlyer to post professionally to Craigslist as it can be weird and boot you out for some imagined indiscretion. Also, set yourself up with a number of hotmail/gmail addresses so you can post in different places (otherwise CL will boot you). CL can be a nasty little devil but if you post correctly you'll be under the radar. Where I live CL is dead, Kijiji is very alive and boogieng. I have responded to ads on CL and have recieved one legit client and a lot of SCAMS, but once you spend a little time on there you can spot them pretty quickly. Also, try Craiglook it searches Craigslist nationwide. Haven't tried an ad yet, but after reading all your responses, I'm going to look into it. I haven't even heard of Kijiji...I'm definatly going to check that out too. Great tips!!
