Default Marketing through Education
I had a sudden brainstorm over the weekend (don't worry, no one was hurt:cool: ) about new ways to market myself and my business. Since my current client gets a lot of his business through teaching Continuing Education courses I wondered if perhaps I could find a way to market through educating the community.
I contacted my local adult education program and asked them if they would be interested in a class for local business people and the general public introducing the 'new' industry of virtual assistance. They were excited about the prospect and are sending their packet so that i can add the class to the Spring schedule.
I figure it's worth a shot, and at the least it will get my name out there.

Yes, definitely an excellent idea - even just hosting a brief seminar one evening at a local community center is a great way to provide education and outreach on the industry *and* get your name and business out there! Great move, keep us posted on how it goes

Will you be teaching an ongoing class or a one-shot?

Tina - Very ambitious! Teaching a class will definitely bring you lots of (at least) potential business, and recognition as a resource in your community. If it's ongoing, it will be a serious amount of work for you, but may be worth every second and more if you like teaching! I'd suggest starting out with a one-day class, and growing from there. Excellent idea, all round. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the good luck wishes!!
To begin, I'm going to offer the one introductory class at several different times throughout the Spring Session, so it will only require me to prepare for one class at the moment.
I do like teaching, I loved teaching scrapbooking when I lived in Virginia, so I'm pretty positive this is going to be a fun thing for me. Plus I'll be getting the word out about Virtual Assistants. It's pretty much unheard of up here.
