TIPS FOR USING THE SITE:
Spend a few minutes scanning the list of forum sections.
Read the titles and descriptions of each section to help familiarize yourself with what's here.
Use a REAL picture of yourself and/or your company logo in your profile pic and avatar. It helps people relate to [and remember!] you.
Display your real name in your signature (at least your first name). Make it easy for other members to address you personally by including at least your first name in your signature. It will make a *huge* difference in the way everyone relates to you.
Introduce yourself!!
The members here are super friendly and very welcoming - tell us who you are, how long you've been a VA, what you love about the industry - anything you'd like to share. A
member introduction gives others the chance to learn a bit about you and greet you
Welcome other new members.
Taking the time to read and reply to other
new member introductory posts is a great way to share the good energy you received when you first introduced yourself.
Find the most appropriate section for your post. Especially if it's a question - you'll get more direct and applicable replies if you take the time to think about where it fits best before posting.
If your post is at all about developing working relationships with, buying from, or selling to, or trading items with other VAs - or in any way resembles an ad you might place on Craigslist, even the casual kind - it needs to go in the VA Marketplace.
Give new threads a GOOD descriptive TITLE.
Again, especially if it's a question. If you're asking a question try writing it out as the title of your post and then repeat it and give more details in the body of your post. When people recognize immediately what it is you're asking for it helps them identify a possible answer right away and inspires even more feedback. Cryptic titles tend to rec'v fewer replies.
On the same note, if you're sharing a really neat resource or link, write an intriguing title - something that makes people want to open your thread and take a peek!
Use the menu features for easy navigation. In the top menu of the site you'll see a link for 'NEW POSTS' - this will show you all of the new posts that have been made since the last time you checked that page. 'QUICK LINKS' will take you to your profile where you can update your personal info and manage subscriptions to threads.
Use the SEARCH feature to help you find what you need. Not sure where to begin finding information on a particular topic? Use the 'SEARCH' bar to enter your keywords to retrieve posts containing your search term.
Give good feedback!
When someone helps you in any way that truly impresses you, gives great advice, or just generally makes you feel great when you interact with them - click the linked (#) next to their username and post some positive feedback letting them and everyone else know how great you think they are!
Be yourself and have fun! It's maybe a little cliche but it's so true - and this community in particular is all about sincere VAs who have nothing to hide nor prove. We're all here for the same reason - serious business growth, but we also like to have fun in the process, so let your personality, theories, ideas, brainstorms, and questions shine through without hesitation. No need to be shy
When quoting content from another website, blog, forum, etc. other than your own do NOT post the full text *unless specific permission has been granted by the original author*. We do respect copyright here and that means paraphrasing and small snippets
quoted WITH a proper link back to the source are expected.
Follow up on your own threads! If you asked a question, posted an intro, or just shared your opinion - check back to your original thread once in a while to see how it's developed, what else you can add to it, or just to thank other members for their kind replies.
Don't bump your own threads up just for the sake of moving them to the top of the list. Let the forum be organic - threads will resurface at odd times or remain active based on community interest - which will naturally ebb and flow. Once you've made your post, do follow up with any replies you've rec'd but don't bump it up just for the sake of bumping it up.
DO start a new thread for your question! Adding your new question to the middle of an already running thread not only throws the existing conversation off course, but it dillutes the quality and quantity of replies you will receive. Always start a new thread for your question to get maximum relative info in reply.
Be friendly! No one enjoys grumpy posts or replies and it dismantles the wonderful community nature we've developed here

If you're having a bad day, take pause and think about what you want to say.
Customize your profile! In your profile you'll find a link 'Customize Profile' which will allow you to customize your profile background colors, font colors, font sizes, and more - create your professional VA profile right here on VAF - they're
SEO friendly so feel free to add a bit of marketing jargon and a link to your business site!
