I set a goal a few months back to learn QuickBooks Online and get certified. I started using the program for my own books and repeatedly was asked by several clients if I knew QuickBooks. The more I learned the program the more I remembered how much I enjoyed doing Accounts receivable and payable in the past. School of Bookkeeping (Nerd Enterprises) has been a great resource that I've been using as accounting questions have come up.

Congratulations, Catherine. I myself have never found QB certification useful. Nor have I found being a ProAdvisor useful. I've actually had potential clients tell me they would not hire me because I was for a little while so I dropped it. I've been using QB since it was 3.0. I believe the many years of using the program has helped me more in the eyes of potential clients. Well, that and the CB. I think the mentality and the size of the clients you seek has a lot to do with usefulness too.

Again I congratulate you. I know how much time and effort was put into gaining your certification.

I have been thinking about looking into QB training as another service to offer. I feel like a lot of businesses want that skill at their disposal so I am curious RobinH, why do you think clients wouldn't hire you for being a ProAdvisor or why you never found the certification useful?

I didn't know they had QB certifications but I will check it out. I've been using it for a few months and I like it!

Congratulations!! This is a rookie question, but did you obtain your certification with intuit directly or did you work with another certification company? I have not worked with Quickbooks in the past so I would love to gain this certification for my resume and also for the hands on experience.

I went through Intuit and did the ProAvisor Online Certification. I want to do the advanced certification next. It has given me a broader range of services to offer my clients and discounts on other programs. Look of QuickBooks Online Proadvisor certification or even Desktop. I chose Online because it was free.
