Question Niche or 2nd Business Venture?
Am I venturing into a Niche area or another / seperate business venture for myself.....

I have done a search on this site but have not really found the answer that I am looking for so I will ask away! (Hope that I am not duplicating questions).

I am an organizer by heart (some call it OCD) but I would rather call it something a little more professional. By organizing I even go as far as writing household manuals, etc....soooooo I was thinking...would doing household manuals, etc be a niche?

Also, being that I was a Nanny for years...which I loved and sure miss by the way ...would offering Domestic placement as a service be a Niche or is that leading into the 2nd business venture for me?

Aside from the above, I would offer some Event Planning and Virtual Personal Services.

Sorry so long! Hope someone can have a little insight for me.

Ann

Hi Ann

I can definitely see household manuals and related as a niche - but I would see domestic placement as more of another business entirely. You'd need a specific kind of insurance to match people with household employees, wouldn't you?

Ages ago, I was also a professional (part time) nanny and loved it. In fact I have the kids from my last family coming to visit this weekend - they were five and three when I left to travel the world. They're 13 and 11 now... wow!

In any case, I just wanted to add that I do think it's possible to spread yourself too thin and there is nothing wrong with honing in on what might seem to be an obscure niche, as long as you invest time and energy into marketing and making it happen - so really give some thought to just what it is that you love and really want to be doing.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I will deff add the manuals, etc to my list and I will think long and hard about adding placing domestic household help. Though I have to admit...I have thought about having/starting a Nanny agency for years...since I got my first Nanny job. I was just wondering of there was a way that I could incorporate that into my VA Business.

I was a Full-Time Nanny for over 10 years I think it was...I look back now and see pictures of the kids...well not kids anymore..WOW is right!

Thank You again for your advice.

Hello Ann,

Reading your posts reminded me of my friend; she works for Nanny Poppinz http://www.nannypoppinz.com/. You can review the website for details. My friend makes calls, schedules appointments for the new Nannies background checks and a host of other tasks. I thought this might be helpful as you consider your new venture.

Best regards,
