Default How do I find my niche?
I want to do business with everyone but I know it's good to focus on a specific market. Are there any tips on this? How do I figure out exactly what my niche and who my market is? I hope this isn't a dumb questions.

It's not a dumb question - but it is important to figure out an answer in order to target your voice and marketing to a group of potential clients instead of 'every small business owner in the world'

What do you like to do (in terms of services offered, skill set) and who (what industries or markets) do you imagine you'd like to work with?

It really is as simple as starting there....

To help discover your niche:

We all know that each of us works differently. Some tasks are exciting to some, while others it's boring. Help find out what YOU would enjoy in life, from your career choice to interacting with others. It's a fun personality quiz with in depth results. I did this quite awhile ago but each time I read my results, it fits me 99%! It helps make me come back to the realization of why I make certain choices, decisions, etc in my life. Truly something to ponder and think about!

For me I am still sort of a generalist, but I am finding that the work I am doing is catering more towards a specific type of client. So I think if you are a bit picky with who you work with and take on only the clients that are asking for work you enjoy doing then you will find your niche along the way. At least that has been my experience.

Hi Williams,

On finding your niche, First you need to clarify what you want to offer, you should remember that.

A.You can be everything to everyone
B.Smaller is greater

Your niche, is NOT the equal of the field in places you work

-Create a list of things you are doing as will as the skills implied in each of them
-Record your accomplishments

Your Niche must arise normally through the interest and expertise

Hope it helps
