Default Is Home-based business too general to be a niche?
I think I have come up with my niches.
I have two,
1. Financial Planners
2. Home-based businesses

But I was just wondering if Home-based businesses are too general to be a niche and if I will have to refine it anymore?

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Hi Phillipa!
I think that home-based businesses would be too broad of a niche. It's sort of like saying "work at home moms" - no one describes herself as a WAHM but instead she would say that she is a coach, author, writer, etc. Another issue is keywords on your website - I would imagine that people are searching for those terms because they want to start a home based business and not really need a VA for their own business.

So I would focus on what industry or specialization you are targeting and then make sure that group knows your services.

Good luck!

Lisa

I niched my virtual assistant services (home-based) to Internet marketing services. Then I niched Internet marketing services to social media marketing. Although I provide other Internet marketing services, I'm targeting clients (business and life coaches) who need help with their social media marketing.

So, I niched my market and services.

I guess you could narrow it down into what type of home-based business you want to support - i.e. do you mean people doing Tupperware and that kind of thing, crafty type people who makes things from home or people in circumstances like us, i.e. running a business services business from home?

That is an excellent question. I am also looking to market to home based businesses. I am thinking plumbers, carpenters, craft businesses, etc. I feel like they may need a good bookkeeper/clerical person but don't want to hire an employee. Any suggestions on where to find these types of clients?
