I was part of an organization and we use this to create our website. I thought you receive a free domain name with them but the name I have is so long company name.web.officelive.com, I wouldn't even use it as a client. Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or need to purchase another domain name from officelive.

Much better for SEO and for folks remembering who you are. Plus you can take it with you if you decide to move off Office Live.
