Default Letter or no Letter
Hi
I will be sending out my brochure and business card shortly to businesses in the area to introduce myself and my company. My question, is it necessary to also include a Letter of Introduction or would that be overkill?

I don't think it would be overkill at all the brochure and business card show what you have to offer and your professionalism. The letter would be a nice way to personally introduce yourself and let them know that you are the newest thing in town and offering them your services.

LOL Aren't you glad you asked!?

I agree that a letter certainly won't hurt - aside from the extra bit of work you'll need to put into it...and will provide a nice personal touch - especialy if you take the time to hand sign each one!

Best of luck with your upcoming marketing campaign - I hope it brings you some wonderful clients

I also agree that a letter is a good idea and if you can address it to the actual person in charge, that would be best. Just call them up and ask who the owner is. I am much more inclined to pay attention to something addressed to Shari Sultana rather than To whom it may concern.

I always think a personalized letter is a good idea, personally addressed to the individual and signed by you. It shows you took the time to find out who they are and learn about the company. I would also hand address the envelope. I'm much more inclined to open an envelope that is hand addressed rather than something with a label on it, especially when my name is spelled wrong! I hate that - someone wants my business but couldn't take the time to find out the correct spelling of my name? Uh uh.
