What kinds of work would an accounting firm need a VA for? I am not an accountant by any means. I would not mind marketing to them but not if there's nothing I can really do for them. Does that make sense?

There are many CPAs that don't offer bookkeeping/general accounting services to their clients. They may focus entirely on audits, tax planning, legal matters, succession planning, estate management . . . among so many others! Despite bookkeeping service being very lucrative financially, some CPAs and CAs, CMAs, CGAs don't get involved with that side of the "money puzzle" as they are wanting the more complex side of the accounting/finance field. Even though CPAs & finance are exciting like the latest celebrity scandal, there is a fair share of digital marketing than can be done. Blog posts will establish them as not only a leader in the industry, but this info can also be put to social media platforms. Seeing a CPA on a personal level in SMM, builds credibility and makes them approachable. It takes them from "Going to see the accountant .. ugh" to "Dropping off my files with Jane. She's awesome .. even for an accountant."

This time of the year, there may be data entry functions that you can help out with.

Finally, answering their phone lines, scheduling clients to come in .. that would let the CPAs get back to the numbers instead of doing tasks that don't make them revenue ;-)
