Re: Resume Writing
I'm so glad I ran across this thread .... I think it's been floating for some time now but it's has great suggestions.
I'm getting so frustrated these days. I had so many plans for my VA business but it's just not panning out the way I planned. It's hard when funds are very limited and working part-time.
I just recently was offered a full time contract position that pays pretty well. I accepted but now wondering where does that leave my VA business again!? I just don't know. I'm always one to try to stay positive but this is weighing on me.
So with all of the above being said..lol, I've been writing resumes as a side gig along with some small freelance type projects. I just recently decided to make resume writing my niche for now and offer a few typing and admin services along with it as well. These tasks are not as involved as the other services I had originally planned to offer but at least it's something, it's my business and I'm stepping in somewhere.
I just redid my website for the 3rd time!!! URRRRR but I'm proud to say that it's not a FLASH anymore..... I've graduated to HTML. It was very different but not too bad and I think the site looks OK thus far.
Now that you all know my story my question is...... how should I present myself on my website? I'm not partnered with anyone however, I have 3 women and 1 guy whom I've been working with writing resume, cover letters etc. with for over 2 years now. I actually met them through a One Stop Career Center.... really great people. We are a team but none of them are interested in joining in a partnership because of their busy lives.
While reading through my site, I found myself saying we, we, we instead of I. "We" would lead people to think it's a group of people who own the company or is it OK to say we because we all work together?? Does that make sense??
