Re: Calendar Management
I have done calendar management before but NOT as my own VA business and I'd like to know how to go about seeking clients for this time of work or do you add as a service with another selection? I am just curious on everyone's approach in seeking clients in this area? I have three clients - one I use Outlook / one I use Google and the other I have my own calendar for them and they send me their updates - (the two guys are not savvy in calendar and appointment features - trying to teach them)

Re: Calendar Management
I love google calendar, mainly because it syncs with iCal and Outlook well. I am a big planner and calendar person, and google calendar has always been my favorite.

I am used to using Outlook or a web portal to access a virtual desktop to manage calendars. I am obviously finding the ease of Outlook and iCal - I do have to learn a little more about the syncs between Google and Outlook - I have tried a few features - can you tell me which ones you like best when setting up managing multi-calendars.

Re: Calendar Management
Just curiosity to those who handle calendars for their clients. How do you handle multiple calendars? Do you have the client get the calendar and then send you a request or do you create individual calendars for each client? The reason I am asking is that I have used Google calendar with a former boss, and we were able to see whatever anyone else put on. Can you have multiple calendars on one email or are you only able to have a single one per email address? I do have multiple clients that I am scheduling events for, and am using a task manager for tasks, etc, but for the calendar, I was thinking a Google calendar might actually be better. I can't have anyone else seeing someone else's calendar, only the person whose it is. Thanks.

Re: Calendar Management
Does anyone just use Outlook, by entering the task in the date and time then sending to the clients Outlook? Or is this too unprofessional

Re: Calendar Management
Alison,
Did you ever get a response to your question about multiple calendars? As a newbie that is a question I am interested in as well. I have never tried google cal but will definitely look into it as I already planned to incorporate it into my business as a services for clients.

Re: Calendar Management
Managing calendars in Outlook requires a remote desktop connection, cloud-based server set up, or a service like LogMeIn or GoToMyPC. Fortunately, the clients I've worked with who have me manage their Outlook calendars all have access to an onsite IT staff/department, or they are computer savvy themselves and they helped me set up with the remote desktop connection or cloud server when we started working together.
Google Calendar works really well too. It syncs with Outlook I believe? But not sure.

Google Calendar has basic sync functions. It gets more complicated with multiple calenders and multiple email accounts.
A good, relatively cheep, program I use to sync to my Google accounts is gSyncit by Fieldstone Software. It syncs calendars, contacts, tasks, and notes between Outlook And Google. (It also syncs Outlook with Toodled, Evernote, Simplenote, Dropbox, and Nozbe.)

Re: Calendar Management
I'm very interested in offering this service as well. As a newbie VA, do I offer it and learn as I go along? I only have one client at this time, and don't have experience in managing a calendar virtually.
I understand the concept of time management, but I'm wondering if the learning curve for google cal and other programs is simple enough to learn as I go along.
Any suggestions?

Re: Calendar Management
Another way to manage an Outlook calendar (if the client does not want to sync with Google) is to utilize a paid service called OfficeCalendar.
Here is how the company describes it's product. "OfficeCalendar is a simple software application that lets you share Outlook calendar, contact, task and email folders with your colleagues; create interactive group calendars for group scheduling; and more."
This program allows you to sync with several other Outlook accounts.
Generally I set-up the each clients access through my OfficeCalendar account, then charge the client a fee based on how many users they have. (OfficeCalendar charges an annual fee for each user.) They also now have iPhone sync capabilities.
Bes of Luck,
Julie
