Default Indiana Tax Question
Just starting out here and still in the planning phase of my business. Do I have any Indiana VAs out there? I am unclear as to whether or not I have to apply for a Indiana Department of Revenue Business Tax (BT-1) if I am a sole proprietor. Also, if it is not required, should I do it now if I plan on switching to an LLC in about a year? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Hello! I'm in Indiana as well, but am only just now beginning to step into the waters. I'll be meeting with an accountant in the coming weeks and hope to have all of these answers at that time.

I suppose that doesn't help you in the now, but I'll definitely share what I learn when I meet with him

I am not from Indiana however I am sure if you call the state office they can help. Also you may want to try a local SCORE office since they usually have answers you need.

In reality though this is a question that you need to consult with an accountant on. Financial planning for your business should be taken to a professional in that industry.

Thanks! I visited SCORE and it looks like I'm fine without the extra form based on my type of business. I would love to hear what your accountant says to you ADK011. Keep me posted.

I am also from Indiana, and I have a meeting with the Score branch on Wednesday. Also would like what advice the accountant has on this information.

For the ladies thats from Indiana, which part of the state you in? Maybe we could all have virtual meetings and share ideas.

I'm in Central Indiana, just north of Indy. A virtual meeting sounds great to me.

Yes. I have both, but I'm not on Google Hangouts much. Only because I just haven't used it or needed it so far. I just added you to my acquaintances in Google+.

My FB business page is www.facebook.com/tkeckva. I'm also on Skype (tammybkeck).

Thanks for reaching out. It would be nice to chat with some likeminded souls!

Have a great weekend!

Tamara (Tammy)
