Former Teacher and Administrative Assistant - getting started
Hello,
I am in the very early stages of creating my business. I know this will take a while and I am determined to have a profitable business.
I have been on the fence about whether to subcontract or set up my own business. In the future, I want to have my own business. One of the reasons why I am interested in subcontracting is because I am only working part time about 25 hrs. a week at only $11.00 an hour. I do not have other income coming in and am struggling to pay the bills. I know it will take probably at least a year to have my business in place. I am looking for other part time jobs out of the house as well as full time, but haven't had much luck.
I am a former teacher (I taught first grade for two years as well as preschool.) I really don't want to go back in the classroom to teach because I know at this point it is not what I want. For the past 6 years I worked as an Admin. Asst. but was laid off because of a major reorganizing of the business. At least over 100 people were laid off. I learned quite a bit from that role and really enjoyed it.
My question is....I want to focus my business on helping teachers and/or school's since I do have the background in education. I am certified Pre-K through Third grade and love helping young children.
Do any of you have advice on how to incorporate the Education niche in a business as well as Admin. work? I am not much of a speaker, so I am not sure if consulting work is for me. I just want to help teachers, schools, and young children.
I do not have a website yet and know if you want your own VA business, you need a website. I am trying to start on that. I don't even have a business name.
I thought that by sharing this I could become more clear on how to proceed.
Have a great day everyone,
Debbie
