What does your font say about you?
I read an article in the current issue of Newsweek that I thought was interesting about the fonts we choose to represent ourselves and what they can say about us. It's something to keep in mind as we develop our logos, Web sites and other marketing materials to make sure we project the image we want others to see. You can find it here: http://www.newsweek.com/id/129573
It's interesting to think that each font has its own "personality." Like the author, I use Georgia quite a bit and like to think it's personality fits me as well.

Nice find Mary, thanks for sharing this. I'm a big fan of anything unique, that helps bring a bit of the VAs personality forth in to the branding and fonts are definitely a part of that - this article has some realy interesting info, great early morning read!

Re: What does your font say about you?
This was kind of cute. I liked Obama's font best too. The Beyonce one was cute, but fluffy. Something we should all remember about fonts though - if you use any of the non-standard ones in a document or on your website, if the recipient of the document doesn't have that font installed on their computer, they won't see it as you intended.

Re: What does your font say about you?
Thanks for this, Mary! I LOVE typography and have started getting into font design. It's especially fun to design with typography because I can use a font to really bring out my client's personality. Too cool!

Very interesting article to read, thank you for sharing. Julia made a good point! I've found it to be lots of fun creating fonts myself.

Well, I don't know what my font says about me, but my handwriting says schizophrenic.

Love the article! Thanks for sharing it with us! Makes me think of my govt worker days with the rules for which fonts to use and the lawyers who insisted on doing it their way regardless! I love handwriting style/curvy fonts myself!

You might know of this site already, but I have found it useful: http://www.dafont.com/
So many different fonts to choose from.

Re: What does your font say about you?
Great read, Mary. I love playing around with fonts, my favs are scripts but for my own site and business documents I use both georgia and verdana as I think they are easier to read.
I make my own greeting cards and I use a lot of the script fonts on them.

Re: What does your font say about you?
Thanks for sharing this, it is worth thinking about. But something you also need to be aware of, is if you design your website in a particular font, unless it's a standard font, most of your visitors won't be able to view it because it won't be set up as a standard font in their browser - it will just get interpreted as a standard font. So, if you want to use it on your websites, it will need to be done as a graphical image instead as Julia mentions below.
But if you are into desktop publishing I'm sure you'll be able to have heaps of fun!
