5 Super Secret Reasons I Love Providing Social Media Services
Posted 07-03-2013 at 01:44 PM by LuzDonahue
Offering social media services has its obvious benefits. Of course, anything I learn while helping my clients with their campaigns is something I can apply to promoting my own business. Ah, but there’s more.
I think they don’t want you to know…. but I do.
Here are some perks to consider if you are on the fence about expanding your social media horizon:
It’s a fun Creative Outlet: Every client is different but as long as you work with people whose content or ideal market you enjoy on some level, curating content can become a pretty fun task. Taking everything you’ve learned and reworking it to fit your clients perfectly exercises your creative side. This keeps me ignited to work on my next project. Plus, it feels good to demystify.
Control over my time: After a while you’ll have more knowledge about your client's goals, tone, and style which will help you more intuitively select content to share on their accounts (in addition to systems that you can set up for this to come you to directly). This means that you can set things up to schedule the content to share to be delivered to you, cutting out some of the time the initial research takes. Although you will still need to pop in daily (or in the frequency you and your client agree to) to check on the accounts you will be able to schedule yourself for “light days” where you will have significantly much less work to do if you automate content effectively. For me that means getting content calendars and automating posts towards the beginning of the month so I can take a few leisure days at my discretion, clean the house, stroll the park, or work on my own business projects. What would this extra time mean for you?
*Note It’s not extra time until you put in the work to make things flow easily. I’m not saying social media isn’t work. Just that you have more control over how much of it can be done ahead of time and how much of it you can set up to happen organically over time through systems.
Easy Networking
In the time I’ve spent doing research for clients, either finding them content or people to connect with, I’ve also found people who interested me as clients or mentors. If you can get clients in an industry where you have interest, you will be able to find people to network with and exposure to tons of people. Even if they can’t see you, pay attention. You may get a better idea of who your ideal client is since you’ll be exposed to so many different types of businesses. You will see how others are delivering their messages effectively and be able to apply these lessons to your own business.
Working from anywhere
There are some things I can do on the run and some things you just need your clunky laptop to get done. The great thing about social media is that with the right tools you can get much of the day to day work done from your smart phone. I often clean up accounts and rid them of spammers in line at the bank. I can thank people for sharing content while getting my grocery list crossed off or do some serious connecting at the gym on the treadmill. You don’t have to do any of these things but it’s certainly nice to know you can take a large part of your job in your pocket because the networks have a vested interest in making their apps extremely accessible on mobile.
People really have this need
Social media confuses people so much that you’d be surprised at the untapped market you have before you. Often people are overwhelmed with the options and time it takes. Social media marketing can be extremely effective but when you are running a business you need all the time you can get to do just that. Some entrepreneurs out there are spending 4-5 hours a week on social media tasks, some more. This is time they can put to use getting things done within their business and becoming more profitable. It’s an easy sell to outsource this kind of work because many entrepreneurs find keeping their channels on message and topped up stressful and time consuming. Most of them are not spending time to test and learn about their audiences. You can do this and save them a great deal of headache. If you could have those hours back in your week, wouldn’t you take it?
Do you offer social media services? What do you like about working in this way with clients? Have you found any unexpected perks?
