Why Kim Kardashian Will Never Be A Good Virtual Assistant

I met with other virtual assistants at a coffee shop a few weeks ago and I was surprised how easy it was to get along with most of them right away. I guess it's because most of us are alike in a lot of ways. So we were able to relate with one another, not only because we had the same job, but because most of us have similar personalities.
So when friends (and sometimes complete strangers) ask me how to become a virtual assistant, it feel like (for me, at least) that they're not asking all the right questions. Getting the skills to become a virtual assistant is easy. There are training seminars, materials, and resources for that. Getting hired is easy once you have the right skills, training and credentials. Even newbie virtual assistants can get hired if they show the right attitude for the job.
But you know who would never get hired? Kim Kardashian.
I know she doesn't need the job but if she did, I don't think she'd be a good fit. Anyone can learn to be a virtual assistant. But to be a good virtual assistant, to last in this business and become trusted in the industry, you need to have a certain personality type.
Here are just a few examples why I think Kim Kardashian would be a horrible virtual assistant (Thank God she doesn't need the job).
Based on the reasons above, does that mean virtual assistants are boring drones who can do nothing but play a supporting role? NO!
The reasons above show that to become a virtual assistant, you have to be comfortable being the power behind the throne. It's not all glitz and glamour but it's through virtual assistants that businesses get built and thrive.
But let's say in an alternate universe, Kim Kardashian does become a virtual assistant, I think the experience would be good for her. I think she would be a better Kim Kardashian if she had virtual assistant experience.
Virtual assistants are expected to learn and master more than one skill as quickly as possible. I think the VA Kim Kardashian wouldn't rest on her laurels (if you consider being a reality TV star an achievement). She could work on her acting (she really, really, really needs it), taken her business more seriously, or be a power player in Hollywood.
If she was a VA, I don't think she would have married Kris Humphries. She admitted in interviews that she knew even before the wedding that it wouldn't work but went on with it anyway. As virtual assistants, we're trained to be analytical. The moment we see something is about to go wrong, we stop it in it tracks. We understand it's harder to fix a mistake than to stop mistakes from happening.
Lastly, I think VA Kim would make better choices overall. We VAs work on a system of trust. Our clients and bosses expect us to do our jobs without having to look over our shoulders. In exchange for that trust, we do good work and we're paid for it. We know that people's livelihoods depend on our actions and we do the best that we can to keep these businesses running. If Kim thought of those things, I think she would have made choices that were better, kinder, and a lot less tabloid-y.

Here are just a few examples why I think Kim Kardashian would be a horrible virtual assistant (Thank God she doesn't need the job).
- Kim Kardashian needs the spotlight. Like she literally NEEDS it, like oxygen. It seems like everything she has done ever since she came to Hollywood is to draw attention to herself (sex video, her TV show, the weekly tabloid stories, the papparazzi, etc). Virtual assistants are hired to work behind the scenes. We're here to make our bosses and clients look good. If you can't stand working in the shadows, then being a virtual assistant isn't for you.
- Kim Kardashian tends to overshare. When you work as a virtual assistant, you're expected to keep a few secrets to keep your client's business competitive like marketing strategies, or competition analysis. It's expected that you keep these things to yourself and only share information when necessary to help your clients. When was the last time Kim Kardashian didn't share anything? If you can't remember, so do I.
- Kim Kardashian is all about the drama. I think she'd be bored working as a virtual assistant. Depending on our clients needs, some of the work we do can be very tedious, analytical, or stressful; sometimes all three. Can you imagine Kim Kardashian sitting infront of a computer all day searching for long tail keywords or designing on-page SEO strategies?
