Nick,
You must know who it is that you want to read your blog. Are you looking for real estate agents, coaches, speakers, authors, health professionals, for example?
Then you write what you believe these folks would like to know about their industry.
I would start with setting up Google Alerts using keywords that will bring in articles that will be offer topics for your industry. So set up a Google Alerts for real estate for example, 'Real Estate Blog Topics' and see what you get. Then fine tune those keywords to come in a little closer to your market's interests.
Go where your target market 'hangs out'...so if you want to attract real estate agents, go to Active Rain and read what discussions are being talked about. If you want to attract health professionals, go to LinkedIn and join some discussion groups where the members are medical pros. Join in some of the discussions and read what your target market is asking about. If you can answer their questions, you can then create a blog post about your answer.
Check your SEND box and see what it is you are answering. I often give advice or answer client questions through my email and my SEND box is a great place to look for topics that you know much about.
I wrote a blog
What's Stopping You From Starting a Blog referring to a question posted here on
VAF .
Take a look at the
Blog Section in which you posted this question and you will also find tons of great information.
