I am a newbie when it comes to blogging. I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a blogging website where you can blog through that and incorporate it back to your own website (if that makes sense). I want to be able to blog from my website but I do not want to use the generic one that was with my site. any ideas would help. Thanks

What type of a website do you currently have?

You can create an outside blogging site with its own url using WordPress for example and then link that back to your own website.

I'd need to know where you currently host your site and what type of site you are using to explain this better.

hi Janine, I am currently using ipage as a host and just learning the ins and outs of wordpress through that. I know you can hook a blog back to ipage but somehow I believe I may have a setting off because it gives me an error page when I try to see it live. I will play around with it more and see if I have more luck and read up more in here about wordpress as well. Thanks

Do you currently have a business website? (It is not listed on your profile.) If yes, is it a Wordpress site or a regular HTML site?

If it is Wordpress, just just their blog program. If it is a regular HTML site you can utilize a plugin called Numo Blog from 13dthemes. This plugin embeds your blog within your existing website.

Until you have your blog up and running you can also utilize VAF's member blog to get your thoughts out there.

What is the theme that you are currently using for your WP theme hosted on iPage?

You say you don't like the blog that iPage has given to you...was this a theme that came with your hosting package?

If your site is not up quite yet, you can still change your theme to a blog that you like.

I don't host on iPage (Hostgator), however, I spent a good deal of time in the beginning speaking to support at my host to help get me up and going. I would recommend that if your host package comes with support that you speak with them directly.

And if you want to provide a link to your website, I can take a look and see if I can make any suggestions.

thank you for the information. No, as of yet I have not posted my link to my page because I am still fine tuning it and have not put it "live". Julie, the ipage site I have is all html. not too bad to work around. Yes it gives you a blog page of their own but I wanted to see if wordpress or one of the others would incorporate back to it without hassle. Janine, I have done what you suggested and looked into support from them but they basically say all the help is listed in the help manual. It's not so much the theme as understanding the settings to get it to work in connection to ipage. Thanks for the suggestions, I have much to learn about wordpress.
