I use my laptop and an external monitor which is really good at multi tasking. Especially with using MS Office, I can have a browser open on one screen and Word on another, or outlook on one, Excel in the other. I also have a 3 in one printer (scanner, photocopier and printer) and an office phone and of course the stationery essentials. I'm really organised and have different folders for different things, ie. a resource directory folder (I love being paper based apart from research, email, browsing and typing / data entry), post in/out, separate client files, etc. I'm looking to get a whiteboard, stationery cupboard, and headset for the phone.

I was at a clients office last week and he had what looked similar to the Samsung monitor or it may have even been larger. I sat across the room and could see it. Wow what a nice piece of equipment! I currently have two monitors however one is my laptop and the other is a stand alone monitor. I would certainly be happy if one was the Samsung. My phone is a Samsung Droid but I guess that doesn't count.

My husband has the very same. I'm very envious.

I know that these posts are older but I wanted to say that I also love being paperless with a fax/printer/scanner machine. I would enjoy having dual monitors at some point. It's much easier to look at rather than flip screens.

I've utilized the dual monitor system for almost one year now and love it. It has allowed me to go almost completely paperless and the savings on toner is tremendous!

I'm a major mac nerd and love the suggestions provided here. Cool to know what works best for people and some of the more advanced technology options.

Happy Computing!
Thanks Winston for sharing! I truly appreciate it because it's funny that I'd been thinking of getting an additional monitor. I currently work with a laptop on my desk while working on the desktop. The laptop is supposed to be for more personal use and I move it from room to room in my house and take it with me when I am working away. Sometimes I find great ideas or resources and bookmark it and then will refer back to the lap. Sometimes I use it as a quick research/search the Internet tool without having to close out or minimize or tie up what I am doing on the workstation.

Dual monitors may make more sense.

I have three monitors and I don't know how I would function without them. I am always utilizing all three at the same time. (Always multi-tasking.) I have considered adding a fourth monitor, but I am out of desk space.

I am also a computer "geek". I build my own systems and I have almost every imaginable software and office gadget.

I started using dual monitors about a year ago and now its the only way to work! You can get SO much more work completed this way and you only need one keyboard/mouse. The cursor just floats to the other screen when you move it over.

Having a dedicated system for things like document digitizing is helpful... when running multiple applications on one system, processing power and RAM can become bogged with the demand and slow you down.

I utilize dual monitors on my Mac systems to give me more screen 'real estate'. This helps save time by lessening the need to flip back and forth between the screens that I have open. As well, its much easier on the eyes.

Do I absolutely NEED so many systems? Most likely not. But I like to utilize my resources.

You can purchase what is known as a KVM switch which allows you to use one keyboard, mouse, and sometimes monitor with two separate computer systems. You simply flip them back and forth at the touch of a button.

There are also two Windows desktops, each with dual monitors, but these are company systems (I'm an analyst for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield) that I do not use for my own business. You should see my office.... I could probably launch the shuttle from here! LOL!

That is so awesome to beable to switch back and forth! I didn't know about that!
