Trusty VirtualAssistantForums

I just got off the phone with this guy this morning, who is now working as Ryan Max from rm@roysupport.com

First flag: I always pull up people's domain who contact me...no info.

Second flag: Too eager to have his "clients" deposit the funds right away before direct contact with them. I was the one who insisted an agreement be signed to protect both parties first.

Third flag: I realized that if this money was deposited, fake work was assigned and funds earned, it could turn out that this money was stolen from someone or their Paypal account was hacked.

However, I would be responsible to return all of the funds, even after he had gotten his "commission". Further, I could be brought up on federal charges of money laundering.

VA's beware these guys are studying our industry. They actually know that there are legitimate people who subcontract to VA's and collect referral fees. They are even trying to speak our lingo.

Since so many of us have been contacted, I wonder if they are trolling this directory for our contact information. Sad for them that they don't realize that most of us are quick on our feet to share warnings to our fellow VA's.

I'm dealing with Ryan Max via email too. Well I was until I started "checking" things out. Is there anyway to report this? I've wasted time and energy on this dude - ticks me off. Why people why?

As far as he knows I'm still on board, wish there was a way to catch him in the act.

If everyone who got contacted would send an email to the USAID (& Tony Mayer if that was the name used) like I did, they can pursue it if they want.

Contact form for USAID can be found here http://www.usaid.gov/public_inquiries.html

Tony Mayer tonymayer@noos.fr

Kena,
I understand your frustration.
I went 2 weeks with this guy- after the first week I was just baiting him. I've kept ALL the emails back and forth and offered to provide USAID & Tony Mayer with them if they chose to go after him.

Just try to remember- Karma is a B*TCH lol

I received an e-mail from Ryan Max on Sunday and thought right away that it seemed like a scam as well when he didn't have any kind of signature (e.g., phone number, etc.). So I too did a Google for his name/e-mail address and found this forum. Thanks everyone for posting these remarks, it was big help for all of us!

FYI- I just found the domain registrar and have sent their support address an email to alert them to this problem.
You are welcome to copy and contact them yourself. I'm hoping the more people who come down on them, the better chance they may do something about it.

These scammers don't know who they are dealing with, lol

email: support@name.com

To Whom it May Concern:

The owner of this domain is using more than one email address associated with it, to contact random Virtual Assistant business owners under the guise of needing their services.

When I was contacted, the name being used was Tony Mayer from USAID.gov. More recently, the name Roy Max has been used. It appears this person(s) are only using your domain services but thought you should be made aware of what they are doing.
Email addresses used:
tonymayer@roysupport.com
rm@roysupport.com

I have copies of all emails and I know several VA’s who have copies of theirs as well.

This Tony or Roy asks for the VA to open a bank account in their own name, accepts funds from “clients” and send commissions to Tony/Roy. As you can see, this would be illegal. Luckily, no one I know has fallen for it but I feel some action should be taken on all who are involved/affected.

I have already contacted USAID.gov and the Real Tony Mayer(consultant to USAID) to alert them of this issue.

Christina, I was also contacted by this person, but he used a different name; however, his email address was the same as Tony Mayer's (@roysupport.com). I did a goggle search on Roysupport.com and could not find anything, so I did not even followthrough with him! Thanks for the alert!
